Choosing the Right Safety Helmet for Each Type of Work
Safety helmets are designed to protect against different types of workplace hazards, including impact, heat, electrical hazards, and chemical exposure. The material used in a safety helmet directly affects its protective performance. Selecting a helmet that is appropriate for the specific working environment not only helps reduce the risk of accidents but also enhances efficiency and long-term workplace safety.

Safety Helmet Materials by MIDORI ANZEN
MIDORI ANZEN safety helmets are categorized into four main material types, each designed for specific applications:

  • FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic)

Key Features: Excellent heat resistance, high chemical resistance, and superior strength
Limitation: Not suitable for electrical work

  • ABS

Key Features: High strength with lightweight construction
Limitation: Not suitable for environments with high temperatures

  • PC (Polycarbonate)

Key Features: Flame resistant, better heat resistance than ABS, and a smooth, glossy finish
Limitation: Not suitable for use with strong chemicals

  • PE (Polyethylene)

Key Features: Lightweight, flexible, and comfortable to wear
Limitation: Not resistant to oils and high-temperature environments

Recommended Helmet Materials by Work Type
Electrical work: ABS / PC / PE
Outdoor and construction work: FRP / PC / ABS / PE
High-temperature environments (e.g., furnaces, smelting areas): FRP
Low-temperature environments (e.g., cold storage, freezer rooms): FRP
Oil and chemical-related work: FRP / PE
Important Note for Electrical Work
For electrical applications, safety helmets should be non-vented and made from non-conductive materials. FRP helmets should be avoided to ensure maximum protection against electrical hazards.

Service Life of Safety Helmets
Even if a safety helmet appears to be in good condition, its protective performance may decline after exceeding the recommended service life.

ABS / PC / PE helmets: Maximum service life of 3 years
FRP helmets: Maximum service life of 5 years
Internal suspension and accessories: Recommended replacement every 1 year
All safety helmets provide protection; however, selecting the correct material for the specific job significantly reduces risk and ensures a higher level of workplace safety.
